Salesforce Chatter migration is one of the technically demanding data migration scenarios, and not well served by many migration tools. When one of the world’s largest media and entertainment companies needed to move Chatter data, attachments, and files between Salesforce orgs, the project exposed that gap directly. Associations like metadata, ownership, sharing permissions, and version associations had to be reconstructed in the target org accurately

FeedItem and FeedComment records reference parent records, authors, and mentioned users across orgs, all of which required remapping in the target

ContentDocument and ContentVersion objects carry version history, ownership, and sharing permissions that do not survive a flat export

Associations between files, attachments, and their parent records had to be reconstructed accurately in the target org

Volume and API limits required sequenced handling for the file and attachment layer

Successfully migrated all data preserving the integrity of the Chatter and content layer

Chatter feeds, files, and attachments arrived in the target org intact

Collaboration history fully preserved

All relations correctly associated with the parent records, and immediately usable
